Toi-San the faded glory -- a photo-essay

View out of a ruin
Toi-san is a town somewhere in GuangZhou, mainland China.  It used to be a place for the riches, as evidenced by the large amount huge houses of Gothic style architecture, with intricately decorated facades and balconies.  However, all those affluence faded away as a result of past political turmoil, what's left behind are merely lifeless carcasses of the past.  But on the other hand, all the glories, although faded, were preserved as if frozen in time.  The whole area is now littered with a juxtaposition of old and new, ruins and development, shabby-glamour(an oxymoron).  Time passes, but the whole area seems to be still waiting....
