Flower under the sun |
This flower was under public display and no manipulation was allowed -- in fact, this picture was taken about 3 feet away and that was the closest I could get to the flower. I found this one flower under the sun, rendered perfectly against a dark background. I had a US$100 zoom, mounted on a US$5000 camera, and I shot this picture with the combination. The zoom lens wasn't at second hand value, that was the price when it was purchased new. Is there anything wrong with this picture, maybe, but definitely not with sharpness or color rendition. The faults, if any, would be entirely on my technique, not on the equipment.
That constant debate of "which is more important in arriving at a technically superior image -- the camera or the lens?" cannot be answered definitely, there are so many variables. My answer? With the modern digital technology, the camera becomes more important, with all the wonder features and advances in sensor and processing power, the camera can do miracles -- provided you land on the sweet spot of the lens (and you are applying all the necessary techniques required to get a technically good picture).
