Have we lost our discretion?

You may have noticed that although my blog is about photography, and that I am trying to show off pictures on a daily basis.  However, unlike other photo blogs, my daily post would carry only 1 picture, at most 2 to 3, if I have something to show.  In this digital era, it is all too easy to capture more than enough pictures, and with high power zooms, it is again all too easy to try different crops just standing still.  It all end up as multiple shots of the same scene or subject, with different crops, and at different angles, and different perspectives hopefully if the shooter is moving his/her feet.

We are all guilty(?) of taking too much pictures out of the same idea, but that's fine.  Especially when we are in a learning process, and in a hard-to-reach location, and the lights are at an once-in-a-lifetime brilliance, and the aliens are landing right in front of you.  But I strongly believe that after all these strenuous exercise with the shutter finger, we should be able to exercise our discretion and know exactly what the idea we want to convey is, and whether we had actually captured the ultimate masterpiece.  The least we can do is be able to know which one is the best capture of them all.

All too often, however, I found bloggers posting multiple shots of the same scene, different angles of the same subject, as if they are leaving the discretion to the readers. With the popularity of photo sharing sites, the situation is getting only worse, and we are seeing lots of pictures as if someone is just dumping their SD card.  Are we moving forward with these advancements in technology and convenience in the world of the Internet?  Is this whole thing simply a waste of time?  I hate the word "share".  Don't share you stuff with me unless I ask for it.  Really, no thanks.
