From my window |
I took this picture with a camera and then did some post-processing to put the tonal range where I wanted them. The shadows at the bottom were real shadows produced by a series of buildings blocking the setting sun. Reason I say these is I was reading a very discomforting blog about image-making, and the picture here could well be made from my fantasy and the product could look very much more appealing (and professional?) than the real picture I depict here. I post process all my pictures, but they were like post processing in the darkroom (but of course much easier, and some processes are not available in the darkroom, I must admit). But photo montages had been produced in the darkroom, so who said pictures from darkroom were not manipulated?
I guess the line between photography and image-making is blurring (or is there ever a line??) I think I will have to continue with my style and never worry about others, except when there are things that I want to learn from them.
