Vending girl at Seam Reap |
I didn't know what she's peddling, some sort of snack maybe, but her balancing act was magnificent. She moved so gracefully you would have thought the basket was somehow glued to her head, yet she had this childish lack-of-confidence look on her face. Somehow she understood that the local delicacy would not be our cup-of-tea, and she never peddled to us tourists. I was seeing many many children in Seam Reap peddling, begging or just doing anything for a buck from the tourists. I won't say it broke my heart but I was reminded of the times when I was their age and I was lucky that I was not amongst the many who had to do the same thing for a living back then.
This picture was taken in bright sunlight, the whitewashed background and her dark skin rendered this a real test of the sensor for the shadow details, but it seems to be able to take some bashing on the curves slider. To begin with, I was rather careless with this candid shot, and it was over-exposed for quite a lot. Miracles of this digital age......
