Fast long lenses become widely available

The recent new camera introductions had actually brought about an interesting possibility with amateur photographers -- the availability of fast long lenses.  Consider a 300mm F2.8 lens.  This is considered an exotic, meaning it is likely the price of a divorce.  But a 150mm F2.8 for a 4/3 camera is rather affordable, and a 135mm F1.8 becomes a 365mm exotic on a Nikon 1!! And at F1.8!!  While it may not be exactly the same thing with a 300mm F2.8 Nikkor on a D3x, for an amateur, it is the possibility that is exciting!  The above picture could well be within reach for a lot more people (although the picture wasn't taken with any exotic long lenses).
