This was shot from the hip, so to speak. I was never afraid of going around shooting with a big camera. I never hide my camera, it was always conspicuously in my hand, and I had it in a ready-to-shoot position, 'cause that's the best way to hold the camera for any extended period of time. I never had it around my neck or over my shoulder, it's just too heavy. In these situations I usually had a relatively wide angle lens, and I set the aperture for a decent depth of field. Here, I had the camera at my chest, and I'd pre-focus with the autofocus, pointing the camera such that the subject would be caught by the focus sensors. Then I'd compose (blindly) and waited for the best moment. Usually when I was almost ready to press the shutter, I'll turn my head away to distract the subject. May be I had been lying to myself all these time, but I thought the method worked.
