Street photography is about intuition. I saw the old lady and the child coming about 3 steps away before I realized the two would convey a very intimate bonding in a picture, so I had about 2 seconds to prepare. Fortunately as described in the last blog, when I was in a "shooting" mode, I always had the camera ready. Here I had to rely on the fast focusing speed of the camera, and that's why I like the more advanced level cameras, and that usually means big pro cameras. I almost didn't have time to frame the picture -- I raised the camera to eye level, press the autofocus button, and almost had to fire away immediately, even though I noticed the light falling onto the front lens element, forming a nasty haze. I had to swiftly shift the camera away (actually fallowing the movement of the couple), and fire away, just one shot. I didn't like multiple shots, even though my camera can do a very high frame rate. When I was done, I put down the camera and remembered my friendly smile and a polite nod. I knew I wouldn't get into trouble with a grannie and her three year old grand-daughter (I was supposing). Also, I didn't like to chase down the subject even if I missed my turn -- that's my limit of street photography, never bother your subject.
