City Hall, Greater London Authority |
Usually for a landmark as famous as this, one would have heard of it, seen pictures of it, or at least known about it. But unbelievable as it was, when I descended from the access road onto this waterfront landmark, I had absolutely no previous knowledge of the existence of what was in front of me. To me, for the very first time, I was confronted with these postmodern objects and I was able to study them as if I was born yesterday, and here's my take. I was a tourist and had only about 20 minutes, and with this little time, I had to digest what's in front of me, organize my thoughts, pick the gear, wait for other pedestrians, and determine my composition, the idea I wanted to convey, shoot, chimp, and then move on. I wanted to emphasize the similarity of the blob of black marble and the city hall building, and I wanted to bend all the lines into curves to match the shapes. Here, the fish-eye lens delivered.
