There is nothing special about this piece of rock. It was the light that was about to fade away, leaving the rock the only thing still lit by the last rays of sunlight. It was one fine day and I had a lot of good exercise with my camera. This was one of result of the the exercise I was doing, walking around and trying to see things "photographically". Of course one can still do this exercise without a camera, but it makes a lot of difference if you could see and then capture and then compare the captured image with what you see. With digital, this is so very convenient (although I am not a chimper, I just look back once a while or only when I'm particularly in doubt -- likely a habit from the days of film photography). With film, what comes out from the lab is likely heavily manipulated already, and that's exactly the reason I had a hiatus with photography for so long. With digital, I look at what was captured, then tweak the image to see if I can reproduce what I remember I saw.
