Taking pictures of kids is full of both fun and frustrations. I missed the focus a bit, slightly behind towards the back of the head. It makes a big difference, and no post-process sharpening can make up for that. There are lessons to be learned for each picture, and the important thing is to learn the lesson AND take actions to prevent that from happening again. In this case, that included fine tuning the focus for each camera/lens pair, changing the auto-focus habits, paying attention to exposure settings (aperture/shutter speed combination, this was shot at the P mode), relying less on the camera, or simply, get back to the basics and unlearn those bad habits.
