I had never come so close to a camel before, just like I'd never come so close to the pyramids. Both are awe-inspiring. Although I have seen both many many times before in pictures, having such intimate encounter is a completely different experience. No wonder there's this Chinese saying -- reading a thousand books is no comparison to taking a journey of a thousand miles.
